Administration (Business Professional)
This course is designed to enable people to gain the skills and good practice required to perform effectively in an administrative role within an organisation.Level 1 is ideal for anyone seeking employment, working in the voluntary sector or who has just started working in an office junior role.
Level 3 is for current or aspiring supervisors or managers with responsibility for staff and budgets.
The awards aim to:
- assess the candidate’s knowledge and understanding of routine administrative practices.
- assess the candidate’s ability to communicate effectively in a business environment, with both internal colleagues and customers.
- assess the candidate’s ability to carry out a range of practical administrative tasks, to the standard required by business.
At each level there is the option of gaining/using credits from some of the units at the previous level or taking a unit from the next level.
We would discuss with you which would be the most relevant units for your role and future development. You might wish to discuss this with your supervisor.
LEVEL1
Compulsory units:
Core business skills and behaviour
Creating basic business documents
AWARD: Compulsory Units
CERTIFICATE: Compulsory units plus a choice of units from the following categories:
Communication skills - handling mail, telephone skills, communicating with visitors/customers
Computer keyboard skills
Word Processing
Or others to meet a specific need.
LEVEL 2
Compulsory Units:Practical Administrative tasks
Business Communications – composing a range of core business documents
AWARD: Compulsory Units
CERTIFICATE: Compulsory units plus a choice of 2 - 3 units from the following categories:
Communications skills (credits from Level 1)
Working effectively in a team
Basic financial transactions
Organising meetings/handling diary systems
Range of word processing units including: Mail Merge, document presentation, audio transcription, legal or medical.
Powerpoint
Understanding the functions within a business
Verbal communication in business
Supporting meetings or recruitment procedures
Organising an event
Prepare a report
Application of legislation within a business
DIPLOMA : Compulsory units plus a choice of 7 - 9 units from the above categories:
LEVEL 3
Compulsory Units:Producing complex business documents
Understanding functions and roles within a business organisation
AWARD: Compulsory Units
CERTIFICATE: Compulsory units plus a choice of 2 - 3 units from the following categories:
Working effectively in a team
Basic financial transactions
Organising meetings/handling diary systems
Range of word processing units including: Mail Merge, document presentation, audio transcription, legal or medical. (Levels 2 or 3)
